Job Description

Position Purpose:

Responsible for the overall quality, innovation, development and compliance of the various services offered by the Community Living department. This position impacts directly on the quality, scope, innovativeness, and legitimacy of services rendered to consumers in the residential program and therefore the image and reputation of VersAbility Resources and by extension, the community’s perception of people with mental retardation and developmental disabilities.

 Primary Duties:

•      Read, interpret, implement and understand policies, licensures, regulations, program requirements and state of the art methodologies of the treatment of persons with mental retardation or developmental disabilities.

•      Supervise and coordinate staff training.

•      Supervise and direct all program licensure and certification processes.

•      Responsible for the overall budget and program development for the Residential and Day Support program.

•      Directly supervises Assistant Directors, Managers (Residential and Day Support) and Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.

•      Special projects as assigned.

•      Interact with families and friends of service recipients.

•      Review and ensure maintenance of high-quality documentation of all programs.

•      Prepare reports as required.

•      Provide support for community integration efforts and HCBS Rights Compliance

•      Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills Knowledge & Abilities:

Education:  Master’s degree in human services, psychology or a related field required.   Must be able to maintain CPR, CPI, first aid and medication administration certifications on an ongoing basis.

Experience: Two years’ experience working with adults with intellectual and/ or developmental disabilities.  Experience with interpreting and implementing regulations, designing, and implementing programs, and other equivalent experience that would enhance this position.

Skills Knowledge & Abilities:

·         Comprehensive knowledge of mental retardation or developmental disabilities, consumer rights, and treatment methodologies.

·          Ability to read and understand complex interactions and relationships as well as communicate complex ideas and processes to others.

·         Ability to work effectively as a leader maintaining positive interpersonal working relationships.

Environmental: 

This is a mostly sedentary position that primarily works in an indoor environment.

Certifications:

CPR/First Aid; CPI and Medication Administration
