Job Description

Union University seeks a qualified individual for the position of Assistant Director for Union University’s EDGE (E=Education, D=Daily Living Skills, G=God Focused, E=Employment Skills) Program.

Position Description:

This position is responsible for assisting the Program Director in the day-to-day coordination of Union EDGE students and their daily schedules. Duties include:

  • Assist the Union EDGE students with class selection and registration, including the use of registration programs at the University.
  • Work with each Union EDGE student to create a daily schedule according to his/her individualized program of study.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to EDGE students regarding life skills, study habits, and interpersonal skills. Be available to respond to student needs as required, including evenings and weekends.
  • Work with faculty to develop accommodations, modifications, and learning plans for Union EDGE students.
  • Teach a Cooking Lab or Life Skill course each semester.
  • Conduct weekly meetings, or as needed with students, to discuss employment strengths and weaknesses.
  • Serve as employment coordinator for student internships and externships.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by the Program Director.


Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in education, counseling, or related field and two to four (2 – 4) years of demonstrated, relevant teaching/counseling experience is required.  An appropriate combination of education and experience using comparable knowledge and skills will be considered.
