Seven Counties Services (SCS) is a Community Mental Health Center that offers a full range of mental and behavioral health services, substance abuse treatment and intellectual and developmental disabilities services in a seven-county region in Kentucky. Counties served include Jefferson, Oldham, Bullitt, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble and Henry. SCS is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and nationally recognized for effective services and treatments.

Since 1978, SCS has delivered innovative, individualized and compassionate community-based treatment, support and services for persons with behavioral health needs including people with mental illness, children with emotional and behavioral disorders, individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities, and adults and adolescents with addiction and substance use disorders.

SCS has nearly 1,600 employees and is forecasting an approximate $130 million annual budget for FY24, with total assets of $45.7 million. Approximately 60% of revenue comes from billable services and 37% is grant revenue. SCS is governed by a dedicated 15-member Board of Directors and welcomes many volunteers and partners from the broader community. In 2022, Seven Counties provided 564,879 services to 26,529 individuals at 28 sites.

The next CEO of SCS will have the opportunity to substantially shape the long-term future of this highly accomplished, regionally recognized community mental health center with a trusted reputation, dedicated staff and an engaged Board of Directors.

Seven Counties is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) ensuring access to coordinated comprehensive behavioral health care. It is currently in a strong financial position with the ability to continue its growth trajectory. Building upon the strong foundation, the next CEO will have the opportunity to lead the organization into its next chapter by providing the staff with excellent leadership and direction to fulfill the organization’s mission. In partnership with the Board of Directors and the staff, the CEO will be responsible for ensuring the successful future of the organization.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for leading Seven Counties in achieving its operational and strategic goals; leading and guiding the organization in its mission and vision to provide quality health care to individuals and families; contributing to the mental health of the region through its participation in Trauma Resilient Communities; building and maintaining strong relationships with elected officials and funding agencies at the local, state and federal levels; overseeing program development and operations; ensuring sound fiscal management; and overseeing board relations, human capital management and administrative matters.

Seven Counties Services seeks a visionary leader with progressive leadership experience and a passion for the mission and vision of the organization. This person will be ready to partner with the Board to lead Seven Counties in developing a strategic vision and direction for the organization. He/She/They will have experience in attaining strategic goals through a proven ability in fundraising, leading staff and volunteers to execute new ideas and approaches, administration, collaborative ventures, and constituency building.

Career experience in a senior leadership position in nonprofit management, fiscal management, public relations, government relations and healthcare/mental health is required. Ten plus years of increasing administrative/managerial responsibility within an organization and oversight of multiple locations and/or lines of service are also required. This leader will possess a strong understanding of the legislative and executive branch process at the local, state and national levels with the ability to navigate across political divisions.

A minimum of a Master’s degree in psychology, social work or a related field and/or MBA is required. Healthcare/Mental Health licenses preferred. Evidence of continuing education, certification and executive level training is desirable.

Seven Counties Services offers a competitive salary and benefits. The full compensation package for this position is between $360,000 and $400,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
