Job Description

Seeking Licensed Clinical Child Psychologist

Position Description: Kimel Psychological Services (KPS) is growing! Our specialized practice provides a range of services for children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, ADHD, gifted, twice-exceptional, and mood disorders. We are seeking a Colorado Licensed Psychologist to join our team as a private contractor specializing in providing comprehensive assessment services in our office in Denver, Colorado. We are looking for an experienced, doctoral level psychologist who can provide scientifically-based assessment services, while applying knowledge and expertise of unique characteristics and issues commonly experienced by individuals with developmental disabilities and other learning or psychological challenges. We employ a collaborative approach in working with families, schools, and communities, and are looking for someone who is passionate about psychological assessment and eager to work and grow within a supportive group practice. We have a strong referral base and are looking for someone who can join our team immediately upon hire. This position emphasizes assessment services, particularly during our busiest times, but we welcome well-rounded psychologists who are also skilled at and interested in providing psychotherapy services. We currently accept private pay, Medicaid and Kaiser.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

·       Provide high quality, compassionate and ethical clinical care to clients as scheduled.

·       Provide comprehensive psychoeducational and neuropsychological assessments to identify developmental disabilities, giftedness, learning disabilities, ADHD, mood disorders, and related issues.

·       Collaborate and communicate effectively with Dr. Lila Kimel to plan and implement each assessment.

·       Complete detailed assessment reports in a timely manner, with the completion of rough drafts to be done within 10 days of the final testing session, or sooner depending on the circumstances of the referral.

·       Maintain good standing with the appropriate board and professional organizations.

·       Complete all recommended continuing education requirements.

·       A commitment to evidence-based assessment and keeping up with  research and best practices.

·       Be aware of internal and community referral sources and refer when necessary.

·       Secure client information per HIPAA standards.

·       Maintain case files within paper and electronic health record (EHR) that are up to date

·       Perform other duties as assigned (including but not limited to authorization and billing forms, phone calls, presentations, and participating in case consultation meetings).

·       Possibilities for psychotherapy with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mood disorders exist as well if there is interest.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·       Must have extensive training and experience administering comprehensive psychological, developmental, and psychoeducational assessments to children ages 2-17, with expertise in the gold standard autism measures (ADOS and ADI-R) cognitive/IQ testing (WPPSI-IV, WISC-V, WAIS-IV), achievement testing (WIAT-III and/or WJ), and additional cognitive, behavioral, and emotional measures commonly used in comprehensive assessments. Experience in assessing adults for developmental disabilities is helpful, but not necessary.

·       Prefer candidates with knowledge and understanding of the unique needs of individuals with developmental disabilities; however, all staff members receive ongoing training and mentoring on developmental disability issues as an integral part of our work at KPS. Staff must be interested in developing an expertise in developmental disabilities.

·       Preference for someone who is bilingual in Spanish

·       Understanding of ADA, IDEA, and special education services including IEP, BIP, and 504-Plans

·       Demonstrates awareness of ethical considerations and potential clinical issues that may arise during client interactions and appropriately seeks professional consultation

·       Excellent written and oral communication skills

·       Familiar with using electronic health record for clinical documentation

·       Maintains professional competence by pursuing opportunities for continuing education

·       Commitment to serving diverse clients, including clients of diverse linguistic and ethnic backgrounds as well as LGBTQIA, and Gifted/Twice Exceptional clients

·       Must be eligible to apply to be a Medicaid and Kaiser provider under this practice (i.e., must be licensed already)

·       Knowledge of family systems and their impact on mental health within the family

·       Skilled in applying varied interventions with individuals and families from a systemic approach.

·       Skilled in supervising graduate students

·       Skilled in working independently and implementing time management strategies

·       Ability to demonstrate positive team interactions with other clinic staff

·       Ability and willingness to accept and incorporate feedback on clinical and professional skills

·       Practice with integrity and ethics. Know your competencies and limitations and refer to a team member and/or consult when needed.

·       Ability to provide necessary self-care

·       Must be tech savvy (highly competent and comfortable with technology) and own a smartphone and home computer.

·       Dependable and responsive. Easy to get along with and grounded.

·       Great personality and sense of humor

Education:

·       A Ph.D. or Psy.D.in clinical psychology, school psychology, neuropsychology, or educational psychology

·       APA Accredited pre-doctoral internship

·       Licensed as a Psychologist with the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies

·       Eligible for credentialing with Medicaid and Kaiser

Additional Desirable Qualifications:

·       Experience working in or with school systems. Understanding of 504/IEP plans.

·       We encourage and welcome applications from psychologists who are native Spanish speakers

·       Training and experience administering the ADOS-2 and identifying high functioning autism in complex cases.

Key Job Details:

·       Candidates must be available to work at least one full day a week (9- 3PM) plus to have set time for parent interviews, parent feedbacks, scoring and writing (that can be done from home as well), and to be available for consultation/supervision meetings (individual and group guidance as needed). Most child assessments are conducted in the morning hours. Adult assessment vary. The clinician can take anywhere from 1-2 evaluations a week, depending on how busy they would like to be.

·       Additional benefits include a continuing education stipend after an initial probationary period of successful employment (6 months).

·       This practice is different from many others in town as it allows you to see clients from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, as we accept insurance and private pay.

·       An opportunity to supervise graduate Psy.D. and Ph.D. students.

·       Must NOT currently be in private practice. We are looking for a team member who is interested in becoming an integral part of our staff who will devote their professional energy to our practice.
