Job Description

Indianhead Enterprises, Inc. is a community-based rehabilitation facility that provides vocational services to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Within these services, we promote independence, empowerment and the development of skills needed for successful employment and self-sufficiency. To help us drive this mission, we are searching for an Executive Director. This role leads the organization and, under general direction of the Board of Directors, has overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, finance and budget management, programs, and execution of Indianhead Enterprises’ mission and strategic goals.
Main responsibilities for the Executive Director role include, but is not limited to:
Board Management
• Meet with all Board and Committee members on an advisory basis, providing input regarding policies, trends in business, and input from agency staff.
• Attend monthly board meetings.
• Prepare monthly Board meeting agendas and produce meeting minutes.
• Oversee the development of, and adherence to, the organization’s annual strategic plan and work plans, as implemented by the Board of Directors and committees.
• Establish and oversee implementation of program policies and procedures.
• Develop new service delivery concepts enhancing work programs offered within the agency and the community.
• Assure all client services adhere to any and all rules, regulations, and laws set forth by State of Wisconsin and Federal government.
• Ensure that the finances of the agency are managed effectively.
• Create budget, monitor its flow, anticipate short range cash needs, and project long range fiscal forecasts.
• Work with Accounting Manager to:
o Maintain bookkeeping in system
o Complete monthly reconciliations.
o Prepare financial report templates, and additional reports as necessary for special projects and activities.
o Prepare contract reimbursement requests as necessary.
o Prepare and file annual 990 tax returns.
o Prepare financial reports for Executive Committee meetings
o Pay bills and prepare checks as necessary.
o Execute bi-weekly payroll through online payroll processor.
o Maintain appropriate insurance and employee benefits packages.
o Oversee the endowment fund and investments.
Communications and Public Relations
• Maintain effective internal and external public relations.
• Serve as a spokesperson for the agency in conjunction with the President of the Board.
• Participate in events through the local Chamber of Commerce as well as other Boards with local organizations, service clubs and other activities.
• Work with staff to prepare and execute a strategic communications plan, to include such things as social media, brochures, annual reports, etc.
• Prioritize the organization’s response to emails, phone calls, and other requests from media.
Staff Management
• Provide work direction to Plant Manager, Program Manager, Accounting Manager, and I94 RAM Manager while also providing support to rest of team
• Identify position vacancies and/or new positions and hire as needed.
• Ensure that employees are provided orientation, training, and performance evaluations on an on-going basis.
• Participate in staff terminations when necessary
• Oversee all Human Resources functions of the agency
• Responsible for Affirmative Action policies and program
• Execute and acknowledge documents and instruments necessary to the day-to-day operation of the Agency
• Observe sound business and financial practices in all areas
• Establish and implement a system to comply with local, state and federal regulations in the areas of production, business records, and programs provided
• Oversee the completion of time studies, prevailing wage surveys, and sub-minimum wage certification
• Attend to office, facility, technology, transportation, and other infrastructure needs as they arise.

How to Apply

Required Skills, Abilities and Attributes for the Executive Director role includes:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of proven experience as executive director or in another managerial position with accounting and/or finance responsibilities.
• Previous experience in a human services environment or non-profit business.
• Experience in developing strategies and plans.
• Ability to apply effective networking techniques.
• Strong understanding of corporate finance and measures of performance.
• In depth knowledge of corporate governance principles and managerial best practices.
• An analytical mind capable of “out of the box” thinking to solve problems.
• Outstanding organization and leadership abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to be bonded.
