About Us:
Growthways, Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide community integrated programs for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Greater Brockton, MA area. We provide education, training, advocacy, and support services to the adults in our care. Our approach is to see each person as an individual and to assist them in having the best quality of life possible. We are committed to providing high-quality progressive supports in a home environment. We strive to educate and assist not only individuals and their families but also the surrounding community so that the people we serve can live as independently as possible and be valued members of their community.

We are currently looking for two (2) Residential LPNs.

The Residential LPN will identify all health related needs, monitor medical status, and work with residential staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment for individuals living in a community setting. If necessary, our Residential LPN will provide direct care service to individuals living in a supervised residential setting and do so in a manner that promotes growth, independence, and dignity for those individuals served. Our ideal candidate is someone who is a strong advocate for community based medical supports for adults with disabilities. They will be compassionate, an excellent teacher in both informal as well as classroom settings, and a team oriented player.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend to the daily needs of individuals as well as foster increased independence and self-determination
  • Work with community physicians and program staff to formulate and implement effective medical treatment plans
  • Ensure safe and proper storage of medications and ensure medications are administered as prescribed
  • Record and appropriately utilize necessary data, daily progress notes, staff log, and complete all other ISP and program required documentation
  • Advise program manager and staff of any medical problems that may hinder an individual’s progress or that may be aggravated by activities at the program
  • Consult with staff on methods of medical treatment and care
  • Educate individuals on preventative health care and other health topics
  • Review medical records and physician orders to ensure program compliance, updating information as needed
  • Transport individuals to and from day programs, medical appointments and other activities as required
  • Maintain knowledge of ongoing program issues and developments as well as informing supervisor of program issues and concerns
  • Perform duties to reflect agency policies and procedures
  • Execute duties to reflect reasonable safety standards; universal/standard precautions must be utilized and training must be obtained in areas that constitute risk

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid license as a practical nurse
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence and minimum one (1) year of driving experience
  • Two (2) years experience working with individuals with acquired brain injury or similar disabilities
  • Knowledge of the theories, methods, procedures and practices of nursing care and physical rehabilitation as applicable to community residential services
  • A demonstrated ability to make appropriate and accurate judgments including handling of emergency situations, and the mental and physical ability to successfully perform job duties and responsibilities such as providing physical support to individuals having physical challenges such as lifting and transferring persons served as needed
  • Basic computer literacy, including the ability to record data, use electronic time and attendance software and receive and send electronic mail as needed
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with persons served, families, service providers, and case managers
  • Demonstrated ability to set limits, to solve problems independently, and to appropriately protect confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and report on an individual’s progress, challenges, and status verbally or in writing as required
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret vocational rehabilitation evaluations and individual service plans and to conduct situational assessments

Salary: $24.00/hr; weekend differential of additional $2.50/hr

Schedule: (1) 40-hr position, (1) 39-hr position
40-hr: Sunday (12p-5pm), Monday (9a-7p), Tuesday (9a-7p), Wednesday (10a-6p), Thursday (12p-7p)
39-hr: Tuesday (12p-8p), Wednesday (12p-9p), Thursday (11a-8p), Friday (12p-8p), Saturday (12p-5p)
