Job Description

Easterseals serves 33,000 clients annually in programs across Chicagoland and the Rockford Region in Illinois and Northwest, Indiana, proudly employing over 600 dedicated professionals since 1936. We offer a wide-range of programs, some of which include therapeutic schools and adult programs for individuals living with autism spectrum disorder and other intellectual disabilities, inclusive early childhood education, early intervention, home visiting, training and more.


  • Enforces all policies, practices and directives, in collaboration with the VP of Human Resources.
  • ¬†Ensures that all schools maintain compliance with the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and local area school districts’ rules and regulations (including state application, personnel changes, and other required deliverables, etc.
  • Prepares the Academies for administrative, accreditation, and regulatory reviews or audits.
  • Follows up and through with necessary steps to ensure maintenance of all staff and client files in conjunction with ISBE requirements.
  • Maintains personnel records for all direct reports.
  • Collaborates with the management teams of the schools to resolve impending issues.
  • Participates in the Behavior Review Committee and Human Rights Committee meetings.
  • Ensures that school administrators maintain accurate tracking systems to support the employee evaluation and performance improvement process.
  • Monitors areas of quality assurance for schools, including health/safety documents, file review documentation, etc.
  • Attends administrative meetings for served and unserved school districts, as needed.
  • Works with school administrative teams to maintain enrollment as projected for annual budgets.

Strategic Planning & Risk Management

  • Identifies the financial and other resources necessary to achieve the mission and goals of the Academies.
  • Provides assistance to principals with the development of the budgets and business plans annually and monitors on an ongoing basis.

Leadership & Program Management

  • Supervises the research, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services consistent with the Academies’ mission and goals.
  • Develops and maintains public awareness and continuously markets Easterseals programs to districts.
  • Conducts and documents observations and provides written feedback of classrooms, employment services, and clinical sessions within the schools.
  • Conducts internal audits annually.
  • Participates in marketing and public relations opportunities.
  • Coordinates, recommends, and secures the curricular resources and supports for the Academies.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with parents, community members, and other educational stakeholders.

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Ensures the Academies are, at all times, in full compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  • Reviews and submits yearly program budgets to be approved by the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Board of Directors in a timely manner.
  • Assists principals throughout the budget-planning process annually.
  • Reviews/monitors monthly financial ledgers for the schools.
  • Approves yearly salary increases and other personnel status changes for schools.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of schools, as needed.

Personnel Management

  • Hires and terminates employees in collaboration with the VP of Human Resources.
  • Functions as a leader, motivator, planner and model for all staff.
  • Sets clear, results-oriented goals with realistic, measurable outcomes for all schools and staff, providing regular feedback.
  • Communicates regularly with principals and other staff in order to identify and encourage staff initiatives and to address potential concerns or problems at an early stage.
  • Supervises the recruitment, selection and orientation and training of the principals.
  • Provides leadership, direction, organization, problem solving, and judgment for staff and program.
  • Conducts and documents evaluations of principals and initiates Performance Improvement Plans, when necessary.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled meetings with principals.
  • Works with the Training Coordinator to schedule and create appropriate employee trainings and in-services as needed throughout the year.
  • Ensures that principals perform duties outlined in job description.
  • Coordinates and conducts monthly meetings with key school team members.
  • Upon hire, orientates and inducts all new principals.
  • Supports the administrative teams of the Academies, throughout the interview and hiring process for vacant positions, when necessary.
  • Reviews all new policies and procedures initiated by Administrative Services in a timely manner with principals.
  • Reviews and approves yearly staff development calendar for schools.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Clinical or educational certification (e.g., LBS1, BCBA, SLP-CCC, etc.)
  • Illinois administrative credential, preferred (i.e., Type 75 Administrative Certificate)

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 (five) years experience supervising staff in a school setting.
  • A minimum of 10 (ten) years of experience with progressive responsibilities.

Vehicle/Transportation Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Auto insurance.
  • Reliable vehicle.

  • Able to obtain agency required crisis management certification and CPR.
