This position provides individualized Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students with disabilities ages 14-21, enrolled in high school and/or post-secondary educational/certificate programs.   These services include but are not limited to instruction in job exploration counseling, work readiness training, counseling on post-secondary education or training, self-advocacy building, and work based learning experiences.

Essential Functions: 

Provides instruction of pre-employment skills in an interactive classroom setting, in person and remotely (via Zoom) utilizing an existing curriculum
Creates webinars based on topics given, showing creativity and classroom management
Provides assistance to families, guardians and students with Zoom and remote learning
Builds relationships with local Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) offices and school personnel for efficient referral processes
Confers with MRC Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors regularly for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress, and acting as a team member to troubleshoot any issues that might arise
May assist clients in the consistent and appropriate use of assistive technology as outlined in the students Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE) for the purpose of developing greater self-sufficiency and functioning
Develops strategies for contacting potential employers
Reviews job descriptions and identifies the skills required to perform the job
Supervises interns at their worksites on a weekly basis, ensures intern payments, and provides job coaching when needed
Maintains on-going documentation related to monitoring and evaluating intern progress
Effectively communicates with youth, employers, educators, clients and disability professionals


Bachelor’s degree in rehab counseling or related degree in human services field.  Will consider equivalent specialized training and experience
Demonstrated proficiency with all Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), and video conferencing applications Zoom and Teams
Experience with,, and other career software helpful
Knowledge of job placement of persons with vocational/occupational barriers, including physical, emotional, psychological and intellectual disabilities
Experience with transition-aged youth with disabilities
Ability to teach classes in an energetic manner and interact with young people with various learning styles and abilities
Understanding of Pre-Employment Transition Services and work-based learning
Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout Western MA locations including Springfield & Greenfield.
Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus
