The College of Mount Saint Vincent is an academically excellent, authentically inclusive, Catholic and ecumenical liberal arts college with approximately 1,500 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York City. Our beautiful 70-acre campus of rolling lawns and wooded hills overlooking the Hudson River is just 12 miles from midtown Manhattan.

Description

The Bridge Program at the College of Mount Saint Vincent provides opportunities for young adults with various learning abilities to grow their skills related to academic, professional, technical, independent living and socialization in an immersive college environment.  The role of the Job and Internship Coordinator is to develop internship and employment opportunities both on and off campus. The role entails providing guidance, support and direct instruction to college age students with different learning abilities in enhancing their employment readiness skills by pursuing both internship and job opportunities while enrolled in the program. Reporting to the Director for the Bridge Program, this is a full-time, 11-month position.

Responsibilities

Develops internships and job opportunities for program participants on campus and in the community.
Establishes and maintains relationships with on-campus departments, local employers, business organizations, and community groups.
Researchers and maintains current job listings and develops resources for students.
Maintains a database for current and past internships and business sites.
Plans marketing and outreach services to promote employer awareness.
Assesses the training, experience, and personal qualifications of students.
Visits job sites to evaluate job content and working environment.
Gathers, analyzes and maintains data and statistical information to evaluate effectiveness of services, and identify goals to meet student and program needs.
Trains and provides support to supervisors and other employees.
Work with employers for recruitment, job customization, and placement.
Assess transportation needs for off campus sites.
Assist with explicit teaching of entry-level employment skills and appropriate workplace behaviors.
Perform workplace skill assessments and data collection.
Submit end of semester performance evaluations.
Assist with workplace orientation and task analyses.
Act as a liaison with workplace supervisors & VIP administration.
Collaborate with supervisors to develop reasonable accommodations & modifications based on individual student needs.
Provide constructive feedback to students regarding their job performance on an ongoing basis.
Suggest and model appropriate social interactions with coworkers, supervisors and customers/clients.
Address workplace problems in a timely manner, in order to maintain employer/intern satisfaction.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation or related field. Master’s preferred.
1-2 years of job coaching, or related experience.
Have good interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience working with students with learning differences.
Understanding of job markets and employer requirements for entry-level positions.
