Job Description

The College Internship Program (CIP) is an educational institution providing comprehensive postsecondary transition programs for young adults on the Autism Spectrum, ADHD and other Learning Differences. Our mission is to inspire independence and expand the foundation on which young adults can build happy and productive lives.

The College Internship Program (CIP) National Office is looking to hire a National Director of Human Resources in its Pittsfield, Massachusetts location. The National Director of Human Resources is a key role within CIP’s national organization providing strategic vision and inspirational leadership to the CIP community of 135+ employees across four states.

CIP’s success and the impacts CIP has on its students and their families depends on the quality of the relationship between the organization and its team members. CIP’s employees bring the Program’s proven curriculum and methodology to life, inspiring and supporting students with autism and learning differences to navigate the world with confidence.

Working with and for students every day, CIP staff members need a responsive, efficient, compassionate and reliable National Director of Human Resources. The National Director of Human Resources oversees, designs and administers the systems, procedures and policies relating to all phases of human resources activity at CIP. Example Responsibilities:

  • Maintains knowledge of and compliance with all legal requirements and government reporting regulations
  • Develops professional development/training programs to enable each employee to reach his or her full potential
  • Leads the employee relations function by investigating employee complaints, directing and managing employee disciplinary procedures, and resolving workplace disputes. Interacts with employees at all levels
  • Creates and oversees employee recruitment plans including the ¬†collaboration with program sites to offer internship and practicum opportunities
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance
  • Keeps accurate records of all HR activity and employee statistics for organizational learning purposes and for government reporting
  • Advises management in regards to appropriate resolution of employee relations issues, and executes such resolution as appropriate
  • Creates and oversees a best practices management training program
  • Ensure that human resources systems are in compliance across all program sites
  • Some travel required

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrated excellence in managing a Human Resources function for an organization
  • Proven success in designing and administering employee training programs.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, documenting and resolving employee and/or employer concerns and issues
  • Eight+ years experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of human resources procedures, systems, and policies
  • BA/S from four-year college or university required
  • Additional training or certifications in HR preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership in advancing organizational learning and human resources strategy, working with diverse teams
  • Excellent representational and collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Knowledge or personal connection to autism or related learning differences a plus
