Job Description

President and Chief Executive Officer

St. Louis, MO

Since 1953, UCP Heartland has been providing service to St. Louis and Central Missouri areas. Founded by a group of parents, it is a 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to providing supportive programs for people living with a spectrum of disabilities. UCP Heartland serves individuals who have received diagnoses including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other Developmental Disabilities. UCP Heartland is committed to providing hope, help and progress for people and families in Missouri.

The new President & CEO will have the opportunity to take the helm of an agency with an outstanding reputation, a solid financial footing, and a high-quality, committed staff.  The next leader with a collaborative spirit will lead the agency forward with vision and an organizational culture of caring during a time of ongoing changes in the regulatory and workforce environments.

The President & CEO of UCP Heartland will provide executive management of strategy and planning, program delivery, external collaboration, resource development (including fundraising), finance and budgeting, board development and relations, and governmental affairs. He or she will be responsible for leading, managing and administering the agency’s $21.2 million budget, assets of $24 million, 300 staff, and the organization’s base of volunteers. The President & CEO will build on UCP Heartland’s strong record of service, serving and supporting more than 1,150 people throughout St. Louis and Central Missouri each year. He or she will inspire and guide a team, think strategically about how to balance mission and sustainability, raise resources in support of the mission, promote best practices and serve as a service leader and advocate on behalf of services for people with physical, developmental and behavioral disabilities throughout the St. Louis area.

UCP Heartland seeks a proven, accomplished leader with at least ten years of demonstrated success in leading a comparably sized organization. The next CEO will bring vision and a passion for helping people live their fullest and most independent lives possible. He or she will ideally possess knowledge of relevant services and funding mechanisms, including Medicaid and other sources of government and private funding.

The successful candidate will be a relationship builder and will be skilled at guiding a team towards shared success and positive consumer experiences.  Having the humility to delegate is important, as is the ability to listen and lead with respect and consistency for staff, clients and community members alike.

The salary range for this position annually is between $175,000 and $200,000 and will be commensurable with experience. The comprehensive benefits package includes group health, vision, and dental insurance plans, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, pet insurance, and an agency sponsored 403(b) retirement plan. UCP Heartland observes ten paid holidays each year and offers Paid Time Off as well as Sick Leave.
