Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Compliance Officer oversees the Agency Compliance Program, functioning as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the organization. The position ensures that the Board of Directors, management and employees maintain compliance with the rules and regulations set by regulatory agencies, company policies, procedures and ethical principles, and that all employee behaviors within the organization align with the company’s Standards of Conduct.

The Compliance Officer acts as staff to the Board of Directors and CEO by monitoring and reporting results of the compliance/ethics efforts of the Agency and in providing guidance for the Board and senior management team on matters relating to compliance. The Compliance Officer together with the Agency Compliance Committee, are authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of an effective compliance program.

Education - Master’s Degree is required, JD is desirable. Certification in Healthcare compliance is preferred

• A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in health care, human services or education environment required. Knowledge of Medicaid, education and healthcare regulations are also required. Candidate must have an understanding of regulatory guidelines for program, finance, quality assurance and human resources to ensure appropriate policies and procedures are implemented.

• Experience in a not for profit organizations, supporting children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities – particularly programs operated by OPWDD, SED, and DOH is required.

• Prior experience in investigative procedures and program auditing preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required in order to present information and communicate effectively with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.
